Technological Colour Mixture

Jay Mills, Technological Colour Mixture, 2015, Transparent Acrylic Plastic and metal heat syncs, 46cm x 62cm
Advancing on from looking into the effect that 21st  century technology has had on the use of colour I decided to create a piece that combines the two elements, colour and technology. After collecting a range of technology based materials I decided that I wanted to use metal heat syncs from an old computer to reinforce my idea behind technology. I found that using only modern, manmade materials would help to show the way technology has impacted artists practice in the 21st Century. I also decided to use acrylic plastic boards as this is only available because of technology, due to this colour is able to be displayed in different ways. To do this I also wanted to combine natural light with the sculpture rather than artificial light. This enables the natural light to combine with the industrial used materials to create a shadow in the work that mixes colour in such a way that could have only be done by using modern based materials instead of using traditional based materials such as paints to mix colour.
