Degeneration

Jay Mills, Degeneration, 2014, Mixed media on card, 33.1 inches x 23.4 inches
This piece of work is about the degeneration of a person before and after the use of illegal drugs. I tried to communicate this idea by showing the effects of drugs on the human body such  as change in mental state e.g. depression, a change in mood. I shown this in the second, less visible portrait as the emotion is not always visible however it is still there. My main inspiration for this piece was Dryden Goodwin and Jenny Saville. The colours and different tones that I used had a dramatic effect on this piece as the tones and colours start of more bright with the green then slowly deepen and get darker, such as black.
