‘Your Coloured Atmosphere` experiments with modern materials, as well as traditional media to push boundaries of colour mixing and colour perception. Exploring how the introduction of 'artificial colour' in the urban environment can impact the way that colour is perceived, creating altered environments which jar with the colours found in nature. This piece created for the Middleport exhibition relies profoundly in spectator of the work, formulating confusion and questions of how we now perceive colour, line and space in altered environments whilst also dealing with perceptions of colour using light in order to create an aesthetic experience for the viewer.
By focusing on my use of materials, techniques and processes, I have been able to experiment with optical phenomena to exploit the expressive power of pure colour and the effects caused by dramatic changes in artificial lighting.
